1 to 2:00pm
$25 per person
by reservation only
2 person minimum,
10 person maximum.
Tours are entirely outdoors and will observe social distancing, masks are optional.
Tours also may be available at other times by appointment... contact to schedule.
Guided Tour Includes:
- Gardens, food forests, & polyculture orchard plantings
- Focus on the easiest to grow staple crops to be able to grow a complete diet
- Fruit trees, long lived easy to grow perennial vegetables, and locally adapted annual vegetables
- See over 100 cultivars of edible and useful plants that thrive in Hawaii including, spices, tea plants, culinary, insectary, medicinal herbs, etc.
- Tour covers 1 acre (of a three acre parcel) and has plantings in multiple stages of development, with many established trees and plants, intermixed with newer plantings
- On site mulch production with coppicing or "Chop and Drop" techniques using various common "weed trees" as well as nitrogen fixing and biomass accumulating trees and shrubs
- Landscape designed to be beautiful as well as productive, with curved beds and ornamentals interspersed.
- Infrastructure
- Layout of site elements based on permaculture design
- Living fence posts on entire one acre plot for pig exclusion, privacy, mulch and food production
- Efficient and easy to use layout, of roads, access paths, and foot paths
- Off grid with rain water catchment and solar electricity
- Large pond for agricultural water storage
- Livestock
- Aquaculture with Tilapia production, breeding ponds, and hatchery
- Chicken coop for egg production, using a hybrid system of deep litter and Korean Natural Farming methods
